Knights are Catholic men, 18 years of age and older, committed to making their community a better place while supporting their Church. Being a Knight is more than camaraderie; it is being involved with your community; supporting your local Catholic Church while enhancing your own faith; it is about protecting and enhancing your family life.
Membership does not obligate one to devote any time at all. On the contrary, Knights are encouraged to be as active as they want, whether that is no time at all or many hours per week.
Faith, Family, and Fraternity make up the foundation of the Knights of Columbus. Amarillo Council 1450, one of Texas's oldest councils, celebrated its One-Hundredth Anniversary in 2010. It is a very active part of the parish life here at St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish. These dedicated men assist those in crisis, encourage our youth, support the Scouts, tend to many different needs of our school, and participate in many other parishes, school, and community projects. In addition, they annually participate in the national movement to Keep Christ in Christmas.

Charity is at the heart of our work and our faith — and it always has been. For the Knights of Columbus, charity means supporting a virtually boundless variety of projects. Our service to the church and community is critical as servants of Jesus Christ. To measure the reach of the service of our council, members are asked to submit how many volunteer hours they have committed to doing God's work (inside and outside the Church). Please submit your monthly service hours on the form below.
One of the oldest councils in the order, and THE oldest council in the Diocese of Amarillo, Knights of Columbus council 1450 began the process to form an Amarillo council in September of 1909. After the hard work and dedication of Catholic men in our diocese, council 1450 was officially recognized by our Supreme Council on January 2, 1910.
